Synopsis

In a gloomy old mansion that overhangs a cliff, Perry Wallace waits for the death of his father-in-law.

Perry's haughty, bitter wife, Edith, fights desperately to keep the old man alive.

Not because she loves him; just because she hopes she can get him to change his will.

Perry knows it leaves everything to the old man's one grandchild, Marilyn Fleming.

But Percy has plans.

He'll bring Marilyn to the side of her dying grandfather; he'll trick her into signing a will that leaves everything to him!

then he'll force her to repeat the pattern of her mother's mysterious death.

So Marilyn comes; she talks with the dying man, and is horrified when he warns her that she isn't safe in the house.

She must escape.

When she awakens after a strange sleep, the funeral is over, the servants are gone, and she is alone with the two who plot her death.

The man she loves comes; but in order to save him, Marilyn scorns him and quarrels with him, so that he leaves in a rage.

Her last hope is gone.

The rising terror of the final minutes surpasses all that has gone before.
