Follow the Gleam
Nancy Protter
Nancy Hill's parents have quarreled and Mr. Hill has disappeared; Adele Carpenter has become engaged to a boy her roommates consider "a drip"; Cynthia Moran has no date for the Prom.
On top of this, unbeknownst to the girls, Mrs. Holmes, the housemother they adore, is in grave danger of losing her job.
But trouble is really just beginning to head their way.
Harold Rollins, a runaway boy, climbs in their sorority room window.
Harold, enroute to join an Arctic expedition, is saved by the girls in the interest of science.
Then, in making his escape, aided by the girls, he sprains his ankle and is forced to stay all night in the sorority room.
This situation endangers the girls' graduation, causes Adele's engagement to be broken, and virtually insures the dismissal of Mrs. Holmes.
But even more trouble climbs through the window in the person of Harold's colleague, Fred, and Adele's fiance, Rodney; catastrophe walks through the door in the person of Professor Drake, head of the school, and Nancy's and Harold's parents.
Hilarious is the word for how the girls and boys save themselves and Mrs. Holmes.
