What is Wanted about?
Wanted is a new Broadway musical inspired by the family story of Mary and Martha Clarke, African American twin sisters in 1890s Texas who pass as white to settle their mother's sharecropper debt and save her home. Bold, soulful and thrillingly staged, it turns a story passed down through writer Angelica Chéri's family into a night of high-stakes musical storytelling.
Who stars in Wanted?
Wanted stars Solea Pfeiffer and Liisi LaFontaine as the Clarke twins, alongside Luke James and Grammy winning R&B star Ledisi. The musical has a score by Ross Baum, a book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri, and direction by Stevie Walker-Webb. Casting can be subject to change. Cast portraits are by Marc J. Franklin.
When is Wanted playing on Broadway?
Wanted begins previews at the James Earl Jones Theatre on West 48th Street on October 15, 2026, with opening night on November 8, 2026. The show reached Broadway after acclaimed runs at Signature Theatre and Paper Mill Playhouse under its original title, Gun and Powder.
Why see Wanted?
Wanted is worth seeing for its powerhouse cast of vocalists, a story you have never heard on a Broadway stage, and the swagger of an outlaw tale told from a fresh perspective. Fans of original musicals will want to catch this one early.
