Synopsis
About Jewish life and old age in London.
Most are elderly, three are young.
None are well off.
Manny is still a tailor and his brother, Boomy, lives with him.
Their lives have been uneventful, although their childhood was hard.
They are absolutely dependent on one another, perpetually battling.
Boomy is a natural depressive—Manny scratches hope from everywhere.
Their friends and relatives are mostly stranded in one way or another.
They're people for whom life is much more than half over—and who have been largely defeated.
A tender, humorous and unsentimental study of the passing of life and refusal to accept defeat.
