Synopsis

Norma Temple, glamorous New York star, returns for a last look at the stage of the Regal Theatre, scene of her greatest triumphs, which is about to be torn down.

There is a prologue, in which Norma is prompted by a budding young actress to reminisce about her appearances at the Regal.

Then, in the play proper, we follow Norma in her pursuit of a theatrical career.

Brilliant as an actress and in theatrical judgment, Norma's love life was not successful.

Always in the background is Lanny Scott, her director; and their sometimes tempestuous relationship is a highlight.

In an epilogue, we discover Norma has finally married and found happiness.
