Synopsis

This is the story of the turbulent, humorous and heart breaking relationship between Junius Brutus Booth the brilliant, half mad, alcoholic 19th century tragedian and his son Edwin, who became a great tragic actor in his own right.

Junius, needing a companion to keep him company and to keep him sober or try to takes the shy, inarticulate young Edwin on the road with him.

As they travel across America, a complicated relationship develops between the violent but loving father and his adoring but ambitious son which results in Edwin taking his first steps as an artist and a man, in the near destruction of the family, and finally, in the death of Junius.
