Synopsis

Herr von Barwig, a fine and gentle foreign musician, lives in poverty but keeps his standards.

A young girl comes from the other world, uptown, and Barwig consents to teach her music.

The girl confides in him, and a tender tie grows between them.

And, as we watch, we realize that this girl is his daughter, the little girl whom his wife took with her when she ran away from Germany with an American who had become rich.

In the end, though tempted, Barwig almost tells his secret, but as the girl is near marriage he refrains.

But on her wedding day, she wrings the truth from him.
