Character
Ivah

the third sister, 17 and a hellion; the rebel of the family, constantly in trouble for her pranks and antics; marries well but never loses her tomboy enthusiasm for mischief.

Violet

the fourth sister, 16; a sensual being who cannot wait to taste life to its fullest; leaves home at 18 and goes to California to play semi-pro basketball; a flapper in the 1920s, she goes on to own a restaurant and bar in San Francisco and marries at least four times.

Lillas

the second oldest sister, 19 years old; is the sensible one, and yet she gets pregnant at a time when a pregnant girl, unwed, was a family disgrace.
