Synopsis

A group of young actors rehearse a new play about St. Genesius, patron saint of actors and theatre.

Through brief, dramatic scenes, this First Actor of Rome is shown to be an expert comedian and stage director.

However, word has reached the Emperor Diocletian of the actor's belief in the still young religion of Christianity, an act of treason.

While Genesius is performing, he is ordered to renounce his faith.

This he cannot do, and he is put to death before his troupe of players.

The roles are unusual since each member of the cast must play two characters.

State author when ordering.
