Synopsis

Blamire has synthesized the conflicting legends and ballads about the outlaw folk hero into a hysterical, sprawling, action-packed drama.

He has created roles that challenge and reinvent the myth has he ably retells the tale.

This includes a wise-cracking, superior swordsperson in Marian and a Robin who only by chance finds himself a hero.

But true to the legend, of course, all ends well: The Sheriff’s sleazy scheme to wed and bed young Ellen fizzles, King John’s vicious taxes are rescinded, the Sherwood Foresters are finally legitimized, and justice descends on England’s green and pleasant land.

Press Reviews

"Engaging! [...] Blamire's technical skill is obvious - the language steers smoothly between neo-Shakespearian parody and modern slang; the characters are vividly drawn [...] recommended for its ambitiousness and the engaging liveliness of the performance [...]"

— The Boston Globe

"Blamire's tongue-in-cheek script alternates between parody and pastiche [...] It's to Blamire's credit that he works hard to deromanticize the Robin Hood myth."

— The Boston Herald

"Larry Blamire [...] indulges in and makes fun of the stilted dialogue found in tiresome historical novels and adventure films."
