Synopsis

Geraldine Page originated the lead role on Broadway as the wife of an American foreign service officer, meets a dashing and gallant Frenchman at a fashionable spa abroad.

The Frenchman presses his suit, but surprisingly it isn't what you expect at all.

He is a jaded gallant, tired of both wife and mistresses, and all he wants of the American wife is the privilege of writing her love letters when they return to their separate addresses.

She in turn romanticizes the situation, and everything would be delightfully innocent except that her husband and the Frenchman's wife don't believe in innocense.

Capping the ensuing complications is the visit of the American to the Frenchman, armed for the kill.

A tintillating notion for a seesaw comedy by the author of Under the Yum Yum Tree.
