Synopsis

College boys Dick and Pee wee arrive at Dick's uncle's country house.

The boys are on a mysterious mission and are not dismayed when they learn Uncle John has been called away to a funeral.

When the boys find all their money has disappeared, they decide to turn the place into a hotel.

Soon they have a housefull of ill assorted guests.

When one of the guests is slain, they find they have two sheriffs in charge of the investigation for the house is built on the country line placing the evidence in one county and the corpse in the other.

WEE SMITH - A college-aged young man. Changes into women's clothing during Act Two to impersonate Dick's wife.

A hard-boiled chorus girl.

Monahan

A hard-boiled State Trooper.

Lem Marblehead

A middle-aged man; small town sheriff.

Emma Burpee

A tall, gaunt spinster.

Daisy

A very young girl. (Role has not many lines, but has a great deal of action important to the play.)

Harold Custer

A young man in his 20s; rather colorless in personality.

Mrs. Custer

A white-haired old lady.

Mr. Beamish

A young man, made-up to look old.

Kay Samedi

A beautiful girl; about 20 years old and stately in manner.

Madame Celesta

A native peasant woman from Haiti. Speaks only in French and a native dialect.

Doctor Omahandra

A tall, forbidding man; very-well groomed.

Sarah Reynolds

Pleasant, middle-aged woman.
