Synopsis

It's 1920 in Armitage, Ohio, and Thomas Ryan comes home from the war to discover that his father has been killed in the bathtub and his sister Jenna is confined to a madhouse.

His other sister, Lexie, is convinced that it was in fact their mother, Carolyn, who murdered their father to collect the insurance money and continue her affair with Jenna's husband, Nick.

In the cemetery, Lexie tries to convince Thomas that the only solution is for them to kill both their mother and Nick.

Thomas has been emotionally damaged by his experiences in the war, and is horrified by the idea of any sort of violence.

He doesn't want to believe it's true.

But the increasingly odd behavior of his mother leads him to suspect that Lexie is right, and it's tearing him apart.

Carolyn is terrified that her children are plotting to kill her.

Nick tries to keep himself in a drunken stupor, racked with guilt and self hatred.

Jenna may or may not be making eerie appearances on the roof with a rain soaked doll.

This is the third play of Nigro's Greek Trilogy which also includes Iphigenia and Clytemnestra, and may be done on its own or with the others.
