Laurence Maslon is an arts professor at NYU’s Grad Acting Program. He is the co-trustee of the George S. Kaufman Literary Trust and is the editor of the acclaimed Library of America anthology, Kaufman & Co.: Broadway Comedies as well as the LOA’s two-volume anthology American Musicals (1927-1969). He has been involved with work of George S. Kaufman since the playwright’s centennial celebration, “Kaufmania,” at Arena Stage in 1989, working as a director, adaptor, historian and archivist. His revised version of the Kaufman/ Gershwin musical Strike Up the Band was presented at Carnegie Hall in 2024. He is also the host and producer of the radio series, Broadway to Main Street on the NPR radio station WLIW-FM. The program is winner of the 2019 ASCAP Foundation/Deems Taylor Award for Radio Broadcast.
