Douglas Scott was born in Texas, the son of an oil well driller and a teacher, and the grandson of a Baptist minister. Raised in California, he worked in his youth as a bit player and extra in more than thirty films. After three years in the army in Europe, he returned to work on his doctorate at the University of California, where he taught for several years, then joined the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, Vietnam, and New York City. He has written for PBS, CBS, HBO, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Mr. Scott is a member of the Dramatists Guild and is past president of the Theatre Artists Workshop of Westport. He lives in Connecticut with his artist-wife, Sue Conn, and their dog and two cats.
