What is Other Desert Cities about?

Jon Robin Baitz's play gathers the Wyeth family for a holiday reunion in Palm Springs, where most of the warmth is coming from the desert sun. When daughter Brooke announces a tell-all memoir, a long-buried family secret threatens to surface, and every loyalty in the house is put to the test.

Sharp, funny and quietly devastating, it is a play about the stories families agree to tell, and about what happens when someone decides to stop telling them. It has lost none of its bite in the years since it first appeared.

An award-winning play returns to Broadway

Other Desert Cities premiered on Broadway in 2011 and was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Fifteen years later, this revival gives a new generation the chance to watch the Wyeths' carefully managed peace come apart in real time, with five heavyweight actors in the room where it happens.

Other Desert Cities plays the Hudson Theatre at 141 West 44th Street, a short walk from Times Square. First previews begin on September 29, 2026, and opening night follows on October 18, 2026.
