Accessibility Statement

Playwright Co is committed to making our website usable by everyone, whatever their abilities and whatever technology they use to browse. Theatre is for all — and so is the tool you use to find your next script.

Our standard

We build to WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the standard courts and the U.S. Department of Justice reference when assessing website accessibility under laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act — and we treat accessibility as an ongoing legal and moral obligation, not a checkbox. The areas we don't fully control are listed under known limitations below.

What we've done

  • The site is built on semantic HTML with proper landmarks and heading structure, and works with keyboard navigation and screen readers, including the search overlay and filtering controls.
  • Book covers and content images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Text colour contrast meets or exceeds the WCAG AA ratios, and interactive elements have visible focus indicators.
  • All form fields — search, newsletter signup, account forms — have programmatically associated labels.
  • Buttons and controls meet the WCAG 2.2 minimum touch-target size, and every control has a distinct accessible name.
  • The site remains usable at 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality.
  • We do not use accessibility overlay widgets. When something is wrong, we fix it in the code.

How we assess

We audit the site with axe-core, the industry-standard accessibility engine, running the full WCAG 2.2 A and AA rule set across our key page templates — most recently on 18 July 2026, with zero issues detected. Automated accessibility checks also run in our development pipeline, so a change that introduces a regression is caught before it ships. We supplement automated checks with manual keyboard and screen-reader testing on the site's interactive features.

Known limitations

  • Third-party retailers: buying links lead to external sites (Amazon, AbeBooks, Apple Books and others) whose accessibility we don't control.
  • Imported content: some play descriptions and metadata come from publishers' catalogues and may occasionally have issues (for example, formatting quirks) we haven't yet caught.
  • User-submitted content: reviews and lists are written by our community, and their content is outside our editorial control.

We review these areas on an ongoing basis and fix what we find.
