Virtual Congress
by Mike Lew

Synopsis
A high school civics class turns uncivil when substitute teacher Mr. Nash starts a unit on Virtual Congress, a mockup of the U.S.
Senate.
Soon everyday teenagers become fake senators, and their cliques and arguments become filibusters and endless quorum calls that grind class to a halt.
Mr. Nash calls in reinforcement in the form of an ex-representative-turned-lobbyist, but it just makes things worse.
Will this increasingly lawless class ever pass anything?
(This play was specially commissioned by Playscripts for high school actors.)
