Auschwitz Lullaby
James C Wall
The story of Jews in occupied Poland.
First they are forced into a ghetto, and then to Auschwitz.
It's a colorful pageant of Jewish life, showing various families and individuals, and their reactions to the pitiless turns of the screw.
Some are even apostates and traitors.
Others remain staunch, however, even under whippings, torturings, and killings.
They form an underground for an escape through the sewers of the city, and thus begins another exodus.
"Combines shattering power with searing compassion."
