Synopsis

Lena and her beloved Granny have to seek refuge with Granny's son, John, who has changed the family name to Livingstone due to his wife's social aspirations.

At the Livingstone plantation, Lena and her grandmother are treated as poor relations.

Then Durward Bellmont, a family friend Mrs. Livingstone plans to marry to her daughter, falls in love with Lena.
