Synopsis

The villain, Archibald Quingle, hypnotizes his victims into a state where they agree to do his bidding.

And the innocent heroine, little Daisy, is the special target of Archibald's machinations.

When the arch fiend proposes to the proud heroine she rejects him.

He discovers that she is in love with noble Chester and decides to do a little extra dirty work involving the theft of the papers, and he also tries to fasten his crimes on poor Chettie.

Splendid parts for everyone, most of them comedy.

Characters

Character
Chester Quingle

her son, our manly hero. He is a tall, broad-shouldered chap, twenty-six years of age, smooth-faced and very handsome. His voice is inclined to be wavery and is at variance with his powerful frame.

Archibald Quingle

another son, the much despised villain. A tall, stocky man, twenty-five. Long sideburns and a heavy, black moustache decorate his face. He is very suave and polished as to manner and speaks in a deep and heavy voice.

Myrtle Jones

the Quingle maid. She is in her late teens, of medium height and is possessed of a gloomy nature. Whenever anything displeases her, she is inclined to sulk.

Daisy Dorrance

a woodland flower, our persecuated heroine. A beautiful girl in her early twenties. Her hair is worn in curls down her back. It is obvious that she is sad and troubled and her manner suggests great weariness.

Bing Barnes

the funny feller. He is a short, stocky boy about seventeen years of age. Talks in a high, thin, nasal voice and it is obvious that he has been reared in a small town. His face is covered with freckles and he is anything but prepossessing in appearance.

Mary Lawson

a book-keeper. She is a pretty girl in her mid twenties of medium height. She has a frank, direct manner of speaking that is decidedly convincing.

Mrs Julia Quingle

an old-fashioned mother. A sweet-looking woman in her late fifties. Her hair is snow white, her complexion as smooth and free of wrinkles as that of a young girl.
