Goldilocks And The Three Bears
John Morley
Awards & Recognition
Nominee: Five 1959 Tony Awards
Back in the days of nickelodeon movies, producer Max, who has a contract with beautiful comedienne Maggie and an obsession with filming an epic set in Egypt entitled Heart of Stone , over-spends on ostentatious Egyptian scenery, much to the displeasure of his backers who threaten to pull the plug.
To stave off the inevitable and keep the disillusioned Maggie on the set, Max tricks his backers and himself as he completes his film and – much to his surprise – falls in love.
Elaine Stritch and Don Ameche originated the roles of Maggie and Max on Broadway.
"A good collection of snazzy tunes and well-crafted lyrics (most notably the semi-standard torcher, “I Never Know When To Say When”) and a book loaded with guffaws and wise-cracks."
— Broadway World
"It has a score that is fun and infectious… possessing a parade of delightful ditties… Lyricists Kerr, Kerr, and Ford incorporate some witty wordplay into the mix, often filling the songs with wisecracking one-liners that are particularly potent in the songs for and between the two leads."
