Nick Stafford’s plays include WAR HORSE, adapted from Michael Morpurgo’s novel, now in its second sellout season at the National Theatre in London before a West End transfer. Previous work includes BATTLE ROYAL (National Theatre), LUMINOSITY (Royal Shakespeare Company; Playmakers, Chapel Hill), LOVE ME TONIGHT (Hampstead Theatre), THE WHISPER OF ANGELS’ WINGS (Birmingham Repertory Theatre), THE SNOW QUEEN (Library Theatre, New Vic, and Young Vic), THE GO BETWEEN (Northampton Theatre Royal), THE DEVIL’S ONLY SLEEPING (Coventry Belgrade, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and New Perspectives Theatre Company), DREAMS INVADETH MAN (Serpentine Gallery), MOLL CUTPURSE (New Perspectives Theatre Company), and THE CANAL GHOST (Birmingham Repertory Theatre). He has also written several radio plays, including A MATTER OF SEX (winner of the Sony Gold Award for Best Original Script), RING OF ROSES, LA PETITE MORT, THE LIST, A YEAR AND A DAY, THE FIRE INSIDE, and adaptations of "Birdsong," "A Thousand Acres," and "Frankenstein." In addition, he has written a TV film, “The Missing Finger,” and the screenplays “The Blue Suit” and “Pity,” which was the winner of the Dennis Potter Play of the Year Award. Stafford was a writer in residence at The Half Moon in 1987-1988, The Young Vic in 1991, and the Birmingham Repertory Theatre from 1997 to 1998.
