K.C. Brown (Claire Vardiel) is a Canadian playwright, actress, and director now living in Seattle. She graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with distinction in English and Theatre Studies in 1981. She then returned to her native Vancouver and obtained her MFA in directing at the University of British Columbia. Claire has appeared in numerous roles on stage and on screen. As a playwright she has had several pieces premiered at the Bathhouse Theatre in Seattle: SHERLOCK'S VEILED SECRET, THE GOLEM (written as Claire Vardiel), and translations, co-authored with Arne Zaslove, of Moliere’s IMAGINARY INVALIDE and Eugene Labiche’s AN ITALIAN STRAW HAT (set in New Orleans). Other plays include ATLANTIS, DESIRE, 27 CENTS: A LEGEND OF TIANANMEN SQUARE, 1000 MILES OF RAILROAD, and A MOOSE (EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT CANADIAN HISTORY BUT DIDN'T KNOW YOU WANTED TO ASK and EVERYMAN in the 1980s. Claire has extensive teaching as well as directing credits and was co-founder of Theatre At Large in Vancouver.
