Diamond Cut Diamond
Jeff Wanshel
At a certain point a riot occurs when a bundle containing jewels, which serve as the story's peg, is tossed frenziedly about the stage.
At the conclusion of this episode, the floor is littered with prone bodies and Charlie Dick divested of his trousers.
Spotted Dick introduces Norty Plumb, Charlie Dick and Belle, wife of the first and sister of the second.
Belle hands over some jewellery, which does not belong to her, to the proprietor of a dubious club as a pledge for a card debt.
She stages a fake burglarly to conceal her misdemenor.
Charlie draws the insurance money for the missing gems and so the complications ensue.
The jewels seem to belong to everybody by turn and to nobody for long.
They involve a trip to Maidenhead and some fine confused house-breaking.
All in all, a farcial square-deal.
Spotted Dick is a comedy play written by Ben Travers and published by Samuel French .
