What the critics say

The Guardian (UK)
It brings such sunny puppet-bound escapism while never quite leaving our world and the mess that human beings have created in it.

Time Out London
As a heritage musical, it remains a delightful one-off.
Andrzej LukowskiRead review
The Telegraph (UK)
judging by my audience's ecstatic response, we might actually welcome more daring in our comedy
Marianka SwainRead review
The London Evening Standard
It remains surprisingly wholesome and hopeful despite the willfully offensive lyrics and the poor life choices that the fleshy, furry and felt-faced characters make. Above all, it's laugh-out-loud funny.

WhatsOnStage
Decades on, Avenue Q remains a delight, the theatrical definition of naughty but nice. Outrageous, smart and kind, it's lovely to have it back.
Alun HoodRead review
The Stage (UK)
Its pitch-perfect, primary-coloured evocation of trying to get by in a world that never seems to give you a break is funny, weirdly touching and relevant.
Tom WickerRead review
The Times (UK)
It's as if Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy went on one long bender.
Clive DavisRead review
The Arts Desk
The greatest triumph of this fantastically entertaining show is how its message is as forthright now as it was then, and needed more than ever.
Gary NaylorRead review
London Theatre
In a world full of doom and gloom, Avenue Q is a furry tonic shot. Yes, things are bad, it tells us. But all of it is only 'for now'.

The Independent (UK)
A slick, well-performed production struggles to find relevance in a new revival
