Widow by Proxy
by Catherine Chisholm Cushing

Synopsis
The story of the talkative and audacious Gloria Grey, who suddenly discovers that her finances are low.
While Gloria is holding off an army of creditors, her friend Dolores falls heir to a small fortune, which she refuses to accept because of a dislike for the relatives of her late husband, Jack Pennington.
Gloria, however, persuades her to let her impersonate Dolores by posing as Jack's widow.
Gloria succeeds in winning over Dolores' relatives and is about to marry Capt. Pennington, of the Navy, with whom Dolores is supposed to divide the fortune, when Jack turns up and upsets the scheme of the fictitious widow.
After amusing complications, Dolores and Jack are united and Gloria and the Captain continue on their way to the alter.
