The Gardens of Aztlan
by Luis Alfaro

Synopsis
La Karmine flees her dead-end job as a tortilla maker at a chain restaurant in Orange County in search of the area's eponymous fruit and a place where her tortillas will be appreciated.
She is joined by other refugee women, all tortilleras themselves, and together they seek out the remnants of their lost heritage, now buried beneath the La Salsas and Taco Bells of the Southwest.
