The Clown
by Brian Way

Synopsis
A more serious, biographical approach to the clown's story.
The play depicts the clown's many years of hard work before establishing a famous act with Jock, the Ringmaster, and the loss of his laugh when Jock is killed in a civil war.
The clown's laugh returns when he is chosen to take the place of the friend he lost as Ringmaster of the circus.
Audience participation includes opportunities for volunteers to assume the parts of various people in the circus.
