National Anthems
by Dennis Mcintyre

Synopsis
Set during the late eighties in a plush Detroit suburb, this darkly comic play chronicles the class clash between an affluent couple with social aspirations and the neighbour they grudgingly invite into their home.
It is a parable of American materialism that sees the action played out over real time, as tensions between the three characters inevitably intensify.
"National Anthems" premiered at The Old Vic Theatre, London, in February 2005.
