Let's Get a Divorce! (Davies, trans.)
by Victorien Sardou, Emile de Najac

Synopsis
Perhaps Sardou's best play, this introduces us to a young wife married to an older and indifferent husband at the time when France was considering a new divorce law.
Pampered but neglected, the wife has leisure to speculate about more ardent love, particularly with a young idler.
In the show-down at a restuarant, both she and her husband see the light of true love rekindled, and rush to each other's arm, only to be thwarted by the gendarmes who, because of all the deceptions being practiced, are not convinced that they are really man and wife.
