Synopsis
Jean-Francois Millet, a young painter of genius, is in love with Marie Leroux but in debt to a villanious art-dealer.
Threatened with debtor's prison, Millet realizes the only way he can pay his debts is to die.
As he fakes his death, passing himself off as his own sister, he prospers but must find some way to get out of a dress and marry his beloved Marie...
