Aida

Verdi's epic of war, empire and a love that cannot survive either, in Michael Mayer's production at the Metropolitan Opera.
About this show
Aida plays the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center from 9 March to 12 June 2027. Michael Mayer's production returns for a long spring run, with several casts across three months.
Aida: Verdi's epic of empire and impossible love
Aida is an Ethiopian princess held as a slave in Egypt, in love with the Egyptian commander sent to make war on her father. Verdi wrote his grandest music for it, including the Triumphal Scene, and then ended the whole thing in a sealed tomb with two voices and almost no orchestra. It is the loudest opera in the repertory and the quietest, in that order.
Aida casting at the Met
Aida runs in repertory across three months, so the cast changes between performances. These are the singers the Met has announced.
- Announced across the run Angel Blue, Anna Pirozzi and Leah Hawkins. The Met has not published which singer appears on which dates, so check the date you want before booking.
- Conductors Daniele Callegari, Marco Armiliato and John Keenan share the run.
Michael Mayer's production of Aida
Michael Mayer's staging is the Met's current Aida, first seen in the 2024-25 season, replacing the Sonja Frisell production that had served the house since 1988.
Aida at the Metropolitan Opera House: dates and language
