Lost Generation
Don Nigro
Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, wife of legendary American novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald, wants nothing more than to be recognized as an artist in her own right.
Two things stand in her way: a growing mental instability and the overbearing shadow of her husband.
On this magical night in the 1930s, Zelda discovers The Club Oasis, a New York City bar where she has escaped to drink alone… until a unique and unexpected friendship is forged with an aspiring musician who plays piano and tends bar at the Oasis.
Vivid and haunting memories are triggered as Zelda transforms the Bar Man into those from her past who have shaped her own self-image.
Through this after-hours encounter, they share their dreams, missteps and insights with one another, hoping to unlock the courage to move forward with their lives.
"Kudos to playwright Patricia Lin for sensitively and creatively culling a great bulk of biographical material into a meaningful depiction."

"Zelda at the Oasis is a gripping, emotional performance that speculates on the reason for the torment suffered by Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, a woman who wanted something out of life that she could not have."
— Theatreworld
"P. H. Lin is one of the rising young Jewish American playwrights, and HOW FORTUNATE for New York City theatergoers that her latest effort has come to town!"
— All About Jewish Theatre
"For anyone interested in 1920s American culture and particularly the Fitzgeralds, Zelda at the Oasis is a great fit!"
— Theatre-Is-Easy
"TOP PICK! P.H. Lin had a daunting task, transposing the lives of these two fervent, larger-than-life artists into a satisfying dramatic production. Her Zelda reveals the artist’s inner life and journey with haunting passages for this often disregarded other half of the infamous writing duo. The segments feel authentic, and the transitions flow wistfully in a melodic interplay of scenes poignant enough to leave you as breathless and fluttery as Zelda ‘discovering sweet rhythms,’ who describes ‘feeling her demons locked in every chord."
