Synopsis

A commedia dell’arte-style romp with zany contemporary dialogue.

In an otherwise quiet neighborhood, two families live and fight: Pollichinella with his three horrible daughters, and Pantalone with his three beautiful daughters.

The Captain terrorizes all three of Pantalone’s daughters into agreeing to a date with him.

Ruggido desperately tries to convince Innocenta that he would like to go out with her.

One of Pollichinella’s horrible daughters conceives a scheme in which one of them will marry the wealthy Pantalone, and turn his daughters into personal servants.

The actions and confusions race to a comic resolution, as Pantalone’s daughters pretend to be monks, and perform a mock wedding ceremony between Pollichinella’s daughters and Pantalone, the Captain, and Brighella – only to be unmasked by the innocent remarks of Ruggido.

It’s not dull.

It’s not awfully politically correct, either, although some of the characters try hard!

Full of quirky, lively characters.

A cinch to stage.
