TOM SAWYER

barefoot and one toe is tied up in a white rag.

BEN ROGERS

a boy of about Tom's size, barefoot.

HUCKLEBERRY FINN

a boy of about Tom's size and age but ragged and unkempt. His coat trails behind him almost to the ground, his long trousers are rolled up and fastened by one suspender, his hat is a ruin, and he is barefoot.

MUFF POTTER

is careless and neglected in dress, his appearance that of the village drunkard. About fifty years old.

JOE HARPER

about Tom's age. Has a bladder attached to a string in his hand.

ALFRED TEMPLE

an offensive, citified boy; wears shoes, a natty hat and a necktie.
