Mattie's mother, an older woman with a quick wit and a sharp tongue. She puts on a cranky appearance, but is a kindly soul endowed with several decades of wisdom.

OL' GRANNY CREEPY

A curious and grotesque old lady who never speaks.

DRUSILLA PURSELY

A tight-lipped, nosy woman of 40. She is the town gossip, and makes it her business to meddle.

MRS. RICHLY VAN CARBUNKLE

An elegantly affected, self-centered woman in her forties.

FLOTILLA VAN CARBUNKLE

A short, squarely build young woman of 22. She is enthusiastic, but not very bright.

LABILIA VAN CARBUNKLE

A young lady of 23 who is the fail, sicky-sweet rich girl in contract to her sister.

THE WISHIN' TREE

Generally amiable, helpful and courteous. Uses a vocabulary of rustles, rattles, jingles and movements to portray the various moods of the tree.
