Four Short Plays by Jerome Kass
Jerome Kass
Carol is not a nature person and is not thrilled about turning 60.
Nonetheless, her free-spirited best friend Jill decides that the best way for them to celebrate is to take a weekend away at a bed and breakfast in the Poconos with their husbands, Matt and Dan.
The B&B is empty of people (off season), but full of knick-knacks, and Carol finds herself more than usually unsettled.
When she suddenly shares a kiss with Jill, seemingly initiated by neither, both women find themselves questioning the foundations of their friendship and their marriages.
Matt and Dan are swept into the action as Carol and Jill veer around trying to set the world back on its axis and redefine who they are and what they want.
The men, in turn, test their wives sense of the boundaries of friendship and come to see their lives with fresh eyes.
Crafted as a fast-moving farcical comedy, Out of the City looks compassionately at how a simple gesture can take on profound meaning for people who are taking everything for granted.
