Synopsis

Based on the life of John Chapman, Johnny Appleseed chronicles Johnny's adventures back in the early 1800s as he travels through Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana unselfishly planting apple trees to feed the pioneers settling America's wilderness.

In a series of related vignettes we see Johnny and friends as children in a one-room schoolhouse where lessons are sternly taught by school marm Proctor who makes her point in the song "That Old-Time Discipline."

Learn about friendships with Native Americans and meet the Worth family, from Fort Wayne, Indiana, who remained Johnny's lifelong friends.

Johnny Appleseed was originally created for the Blue Apple Players, Kentucky's most popular professional theater for young people.

Single set with movable stools, crates and props.

Approximate running time: 55 minutes.
