One Shoe Off
Tina Howe
THE STORY: A Boston family’s annual summer horseshoe tournament on Cape Cod goes awry when family secrets and hidden emotions intrude.
Adam Schuster, who hosts the tournament, simply wants to keep a family tradition alive, but his father’s growing dementia, a dispute with his younger brother Josh, and concerns about the stability of his marriage create their share of complications.
The tournament is also the first since the death of Adam’s brother Max, whose widow and son, Susan and Christian, come to visit from California.
Josh’s ex-wife, Zoe, also stops by, and new details emerge about Max’s relationship with Susan.
HORSESHOES examines a family coping with its past and present while seeking a path into the future.
