On a California beach, two young surfers have just come from the funeral of a close friend.
The two boys confide in each other about Kirk, and they agree that possibly, they never really knew him.
A chance encounter with two girls helps the boys sort out feelings about the death of their best friend, and reveals the truth about Kirk's passing.
