The Divine Flora
Colin Clements
This new comedy of youth is the mirthful story of Susan Blake, a "career girl," and the troubles which beset those two loyal musketeers, Johnny Clover and Spud Erwin, Editor and Business Manager of the Preston High School "Penguin," when Susan high-pressures herself into the position of Assistant Editor.
Before the curtain falls on the second act, Susan--always with the best possible intentions--has almost bankrupt the "Penguin," shaken the friendship of the musketeers, and given them the measles.
When her innocent enthusiasm involves all three in an illegal pinball game, which almost lands them in jail, Johnny's mother steps in and saves the day--not only for the young people but also for the high-school principal and the pretty journalism teacher, whose lives have been disrupted by the ubiquitous but ever adorable Susan.
A light-hearted play buoyant with the bubbling effervescence of youth; easy to cast.
"One of those rare evenings in the theatre when scene after scene is rewarded with spontaneous applause."
