Three Vanĕk Plays
Václav Havel
Samuel French is happy to make available the first English translation of Dozens of Cousins – originally published in Czech in 2009, shortly after Havel’s presidency.
This tensioned-filled one act is widely regarded as a contemporary sequel to Havel’s Vaněk series.
It is in fact a post script to his one-act play Unveiling .
The same characters meet many years later and play the same one-up-manship games in a new context.
Communism has died with a whimper and the Free World becons with its exotic vacations, drugs and culinary extremes.
It would pair well with a number of Havel’s short plays, including Audience and Protest .
Dozens of Cousins is a play written by Václav Havel and published by Samuel French .
