Synopsis

Bunked!

The Musical is a touching coming-of-age comedy about five summer camp counselors during that pivotal summer before the beginning of college.

With easily relatable characters experiencing their first tastes of independence and a catchy pop score, Bunked!

taps into the uncertainty of trying to find oneself while forging first adult relationships.

Exploring themes of first loves, growing up and identity, the show asks the questions “Who am I?,” “Where do I belong?” and “How do I make a name for myself?” with humor and poignancy.

Press Reviews

"The arrival of Bunked! at this year’s Fringe Festival is the kind of event theatre aficionados generally only get to dream of: a new musical with music, book, lyrics, direction and performances… that bursts upon the scene as a full-fledged smash production… The book and lyrics and the music are creative, witty and memorable."

"The engaging musical Bunked!… is like Wet Hot American Summer with as much heart as high jink."

— The Advocate

"Alaina Kunin and Bradford Proctor have written a funny, hip musical about hormone-addled counselors at Camp Timberlake… Bunked! remains a frothy, giggly delight for its duration."

Characters

Character
Carmen

Strong, brassy city girl who makes perhaps the biggest emotional journey at camp. Love interest for Max. Must be able to play both sassiness and vulnerability. Pop alto or soprano, must have a strong belt.

Max

The golden boy with a heart to match, whose summer plans are thrown for a loop when a secret is revealed. Love interest for Carmen. Must be very likeable in an earthy, wholesome kind of way. Pop baritone/tenor.

Stewart

Confused and directionless dreamer, he spends the summer searching for what he is going to do with his life. Bisexual, a love interest for both Anabel and Oliver (must be believably straight or gay). Pop tenor.

Oliver

The openly gay teenage boy (but not stereotypically gay) who wants to be the center of attention, yearning to make it in the big city. Anabel’s adopted brother (need not look alike) and gay love interest for Stewart. Pop tenor. All must look believably 18. Ideally, the show should be multi-ethnic.

Anabel

Nerdy, bookish, very quirky girl, Oliver’s sister (need not look alike) and love interest for Stewart. Very likable in a geeky, mousy kind of way. Pop soprano, must have strong belt and mix.
