Based in Langley Park Centre for the Performing Arts, Langley Park School for Boys, Beckenham, Kent
NJC Scale PO2, Points 29-32 (FTE £44,182 - £47,260)

Langley Park School for Boys is an exceptional school that ensures excellent academic outcomes for our students. We are a large, inclusive, over-subscribed, 11-18 school with a co-educational Sixth Form. We consistently achieve high academic success, whilst maintaining a commitment to educating the ‘whole child’ through the promotion of sport and the arts as part of a well-rounded curriculum.

We are part of Impact Multi Academy Trust, and we work closely within the Trust with our other four secondary schools and our three primary schools.

*Hours are annualised to average 36 per week and the salary is inclusive of unsocial hours involving evening and weekend working.
We are seeking to recruit a Theatre Director to be responsible for the running of our fabulous 488 seat Performance Hall and associated spaces (120 seat Studio, drama studios, etc). The venue has state of the art facilities and an extremely busy programme of events – both external hires and school events – throughout the year. We are looking for somebody with the appropriate skills and experience to ensure that we can continue to offer a first-class facility to the local community, the staff and pupils and the large number of external organisations who hire the Performance Hall.
Our busy programme includes dance shows, dance competitions, musicals, orchestras, cinema, choirs and amateur productions.
The successful candidate will have experience of Theatre Management as well as a broad knowledge of FOH, licensing, sound, staging and general stage management. Working hours will vary around an average of 36 hrs / week, although the majority of the work is likely to be evenings and weekends throughout the year. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the work of the Duty Managers, the Events Managers, the Technicians and Theatre Stewards and drawing up rotas to ensure all events are properly staffed. The job will also involve some physical lifting and working at heights.
The successful candidate will need to be a Personal Licence holder to fulfil licensing conditions (if not already a holder this can be arranged after appointment).
A full job description and application form is attached to this advertisement.
What we have to offer you:
• State of the art building and facilities
• Committed and hardworking students
• Ongoing professional development and training
• A friendly and supportive working environment
• Opportunities for collaboration with other schools within our Trust
• Free access to a confidential 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provided through Health Assured

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all our staff.

We particularly welcome applicants from ethnic minority backgrounds as they are currently under-represented on our staff body.

We recognise the vital contribution that members of a diverse team make to our students’/pupils’ learning. The range of cultural experiences, differing viewpoints and role models this brings is essential in our Trust and we recognise the gap that would be left in our team offering without these.
