Lou and James are trying to start again in a new home. Something in the house has other ideas. The production leans on illusion and sound rather than gore, and it arrives with an Olivier Award nomination from its West End run.
Travis A. Knight and Cher Álvarez lead the Broadway cast
The Broadway company is four actors. Travis A. Knight plays James, Cher Álvarez plays Lou, Shannon Cochran plays Carolann and Eva Kaminsky plays Etheline Cotgrave. Casting can change during a run.
Felix Barrett directs, with illusions by Chris Fisher
Levi Holloway wrote the adaptation and Felix Barrett directs. Barrett founded Punchdrunk and built his reputation on immersive work such as Sleep No More, and the illusions are by Chris Fisher, whose credits include Stranger Things: The First Shadow. That combination is why the show reads as a technical spectacle rather than a straight play.
