Vanguard Theater is currently seeking Educators for two of their fall educational programs. All rehearse in Montclair, NJ. Please see details below:
Disney Dreamers Teaching Artist
Program Schedule

Dates: September 26 – November 14, 2026

Day: Saturdays
-
Time: 10:00–11:00 AM
-
Ages: 5–7
-
Total: 8 one-hour sessions
Compensation - $75/session, $600 total stipend
Class Focus & Responsibilities
-
Introduce young performers to foundational singing, dancing, and acting skills
-
Use songs and material from Disney musicals to create an engaging, age-appropriate classroom experience
-
Encourage creativity, confidence, imagination, and collaboration
-
Create simple musical staging and choreography appropriate for ages 5–7
-
Prepare students for an invited showcase for family and friends on the final day of class
-
Foster a warm, inclusive environment where young students feel comfortable exploring performance
Ideal Candidate
-
Experience teaching theater, music, and/or dance to young children
-
Comfortable leading students in basic singing, movement, and acting activities
-
Energetic, patient, organized, and engaging
-
Strong understanding of age-appropriate instruction for students ages 5–7
-
Values fostering confidence, creativity, and a love of performing
Broadway Bound Teaching Artist
Program Schedule

Weekly Classes: Saturdays, September 26 – November 14, 2026

Time: 12:00–2:00 PM

Showcase Rehearsal: Friday, November 20, 4:00–8:00 PM

Dress Rehearsal: Saturday, November 21, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
-
Cabaret Showcase: Saturday, November 21, 3:00–4:30 PM

Ages: 12–18
-
Total: 10 two-hour sessions
Compensation $75/hour, $750 total stipend
*Compensation based on scheduled teaching, rehearsal, and showcase hours
Class Focus & Responsibilities

Train students in musical theater performance through acting, vocals, and movement
-
Help students select and refine material that showcases their individual strengths
-
Coach students on interpretation, storytelling, stage presence, and performance technique
-
Develop ensemble material and help shape the final cabaret-style showcase
-
Collaborate with fellow teaching artists to create a cohesive and supportive program
-
Prepare students for the final rehearsal, dress rehearsal, and showcase
-
Encourage confidence, individuality, collaboration, and artistic growth
Ideal Candidate
-
Professional and/or teaching experience in Musical Theater
-
Strong background in one or more areas of acting, voice, or dance
-
Experience working with teen performers
-
Ability to coach individual material while also building a strong ensemble
-
Collaborative, organized, energetic, and student-centered
-
Values creating a supportive environment where young artists can take risks and grow

All rehearsals and performances are held at Vanguard Theater, conveniently located just a 30-minute train ride from NYC to Bay Street station in Montclair, NJ. From there, it's just a two-minute walk to the theater.
