PLACE: An imagined nunnery in rural Italy

TIME: The 8th century AD (also imagined)

SEEKING (All roles and understudies):

IULIA: (she/her). Any ethnicity. Of marrying age by contemporary standards. A novice, a seeker. Sings well, acapella group singing, with a good, natural voice.

EPHEMERA: (she/her). An elder matriarch, in charge of the nunnery, a hard-ass. Sings poorly.

PERPETUA: (she/her). Any ethnicity. Middle-aged by contemporary standards. A nun and a true believer. Sings well, acapella group singing, with a good, natural voice.

SERAPHINA: (she/her). Any ethnicity. Of marrying age by contemporary standards. A nun. An ingenue with sharp edges. Sings well, acapella group singing, with a good, natural voice.

CARINA: (she/her). Any ethnicity. Of marrying age by contemporary standards. A nun. A patient realist. Sings well, acapella group singing, with a good, natural voice.

LADY MONICA: (she/her). Any ethnicity. Middle-aged by contemporary standards. A glamorous manager.

CARDINAL ANTONIO: (he/him) Any ethnicity. An elder cleric, a company man who wants very badly to be Pope.
