Much Ado About Nothing plays the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway in a strictly limited 10-week engagement, with previews from 31 October 2026, opening night on 19 November 2026 and a final performance on 10 January 2027. Tom Hiddleston plays Benedick opposite Hayley Atwell as Beatrice, directed by Jamie Lloyd.
Much Ado About Nothing: Shakespeare's comedy of pride and love
Much Ado About Nothing sends soldiers home from a war to a house full of people who have been waiting for them. One young couple fall in love almost at once. Two others, Beatrice and Benedick, have decided they are far too clever for any of it, and spend the play being outwitted by their friends and by themselves. It is Shakespeare's sharpest comedy about how much easier it is to mock love than admit to it, and it turns genuinely dark before it resolves.
Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell lead the Broadway cast
Tom Hiddleston plays Benedick and Hayley Atwell plays Beatrice. The company also includes Mara Huf as Hero, James Phoon as Claudio, Gerald Kyd as Don Pedro, Tim Steed as Don John, Forbes Masson as Leonato, Mason Alexander Park as Margaret, Mika Onyx Johnson as Borachio and Phillip Olagoke as Friar Francis. Casting can change during a run.
Jamie Lloyd's production, from London to Broadway
Jamie Lloyd directs, and this staging played London before transferring, so the company arrives with the production already made rather than building it in previews. His stripped-back, contemporary Shakespeare has become some of the most talked-about work in London and New York. Production photographs on this page are from the London staging, by Marc Brenner.
Much Ado About Nothing at the Winter Garden Theatre: dates and limited run
Much Ado About Nothing plays the Winter Garden Theatre at 1634 Broadway, between West 50th and 51st Streets, seating around 1,600. This is a 10-week engagement with the closing date already set at 10 January 2027, so the window is fixed rather than open-ended. Jamie Lloyd's Evita follows into the same theatre in February 2027.
