Evita opens at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway, with first performances from 27 February 2027 and opening night on 25 March 2027. Rachel Zegler stars as Eva Perón in Jamie Lloyd's production, transferring from the London Palladium.

Evita on Broadway: Jamie Lloyd's Olivier-winning production

Evita traces Eva Duarte's rise from provincial obscurity to the most powerful woman in Argentina, adored as a saint by the descamisados and distrusted by the establishment she outmanoeuvred. Andrew Lloyd Webber's sung-through score carries the whole story, from the nightclubs of Buenos Aires to the balcony of the Casa Rosada. Jamie Lloyd's staging won two Olivier Awards in London.

Rachel Zegler stars as Eva Perón

Rachel Zegler plays Eva Perón, reprising the role that won her the 2025 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Further casting is still to be announced, and casting can change during a run.

Evita has music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and book and lyrics by Tim Rice, directed by Jamie Lloyd with choreography by Fabian Aloise. It is sung through, with almost no spoken dialogue.

What changes for the Broadway transfer

At the London Palladium, Rachel Zegler sang Don't Cry for Me Argentina from a balcony above the street, to crowds gathered outside the theatre each night. That staging does not transfer. Jamie Lloyd has said he is developing a new idea made specifically for Broadway.

Evita at the Winter Garden Theatre: dates and running time

Evita plays the Winter Garden Theatre at 1634 Broadway, between West 50th and 51st Streets, a house of around 1,600 seats well suited to a production built on scale. It runs 2 hours 25 minutes including one intermission. Performances begin 27 February 2027 and opening night is 25 March 2027.
